Do you feel that your business is going nowhere? Does it lack clear direction, and focus? Without market research, clear goals and other important elements, entrepreneurs struggle to attract customers, market effectively, and generate consistent income. The solution?

Acknowledge that you need help, start by identifying your ideal customers, following the steps below, own it, and watch your business grow.

Set SMART Goals

Let's start with the bottom line. You can't approach a business or anything you want to be successful without establishing written goals. Goals will help you establish a plan to achieve the desired goals.

So the first question is, how many customers will you need to reach in order to reach your financial goals? How much money do you want to make from each of your products? How many product units will you need to sell to reach your goals?

Choose Your Niche

What industry and segment of the market would you like to serve to reach your income goals? What hobbies, skills and interests can I use to serve an audience of people who will buy my products? Download a free copy of our eBook to get ideas on possible niches you could serve.

Reverse Engineer Your Financial Goals

Work backwards from your end financial goal to determine the steps and metrics needed to connect with your ideal customers, build rapport and sell your products to reach each of your financial goals.

We have a step by step guide that shows you how to reverse engineer the way to your first $1000. Use the information in the article to map out the steps you'll need to follow for your business.

Create a Buyer Persona

Document the details you can help your ideal customers with. Creating content is so much easier when you can visualize who you're selling to. Use your buyer persona each time you create content like blog posts, social media, ads, images, podcast episodes, etc. Get your buyer persona now.

Create a Plan

Your plan should outline how you will attract the right people to your business. Who are the right people?

The right people includes those who are actively searching for products like yours. It also includes those who determine at some point in the future that they have a problem your product can help with.

This plan will become your blueprint that leads you to success! Build a written plan that includes the following:

  • Your market research
  • Your goals
  • Your niche
  • Persona

Your plan can be as brief or as detailed as you like. You can start by answering a few key questions and build on that. Use a free tool like Google Docs (on an Android) or Notes (on an iPhone), to write down your plan.

That’s a great way to access your document from your favorite cell phone, tablet, or laptop and work on it from any location. You can start your plan on your laptop and edit it from your cell phone!

Map Out Daily Tasks

Reaching and exceeding our goals is a direct result of our daily habits… In most cases poor habits will result in poor results. What are the daily habits that will lead to you making money every day?

Create a daily task list that you use each day to reach your goals. Use a planner to map out your daily tasks.

Execute, Measure and Optimize

Execute your plan and measure your results. Use tools like Google Analytics, Monster Insights, Google Site Kit, UTM Parameters and social media analytics for reporting.

Run daily, weekly and monthly reports to see what’s working. Eliminate what’s not working and do more of what is working. Rinse and repeat.
